Howard J. Bernstein has extensive experience in handling social security disability and long term disability claims and has helped hundreds of clients obtain their disability benefits. We have a thorough understanding of the various types of disability laws and are well versed in the medical issues that cause our client’s disabilities. Mr. Bernstein has handled Social Security disability claims in Washington D.C.; Baltimore, Maryland; New York City; Philadelphia, Reading, Harrisburg and Johnstown, PA; Voorhees, New Jersey; and , Richmond, Virginia. He has represented clients in numerous lawsuits against long-term disability insurance carriers such as UNUM, CIGNA, CNA, The Hartford, Prudential Insurance, and MetLife. He has also successfully handled long-term disability claims at the administrative level where claimants were put back on claim without the need to file a lawsuit. Mr. Bernstein also has extensive experience in assisting clients with bankruptcy and financial restructuring issues.

Prior to starting his own law firm, Mr. Bernstein was the managing partner of the disability division of a personal injury firm in the Washington, DC area. Mr. Bernstein is admitted to practice in the state bars of Maryland, the District of Columbia and New Jersey. He is also admitted to the United States District Court of Maryland, United States District Court of the District of Columbia, and the United States District Court of New Jersey. He is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR), the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Bernstein obtained his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Maryland at College Park and received his law degree at the District of Columbia School of Law.
